If something on MaldivesQuest is wrong, we want to know and we fix it promptly. This page explains how to report an error, what we do with it, and where to go if your concern is about a booking rather than a page.
The record of what has changed is kept in the corrections log. The checking rules behind every page are in our editorial standards, part of the trust and transaction clarity hub.
How to report an error
Reply to any message from us, or use the contact route on the enquiry page. Include three things:
- the page address;
- the sentence or number you believe is wrong;
- where you saw the correct information, ideally an official link.
Reports from readers, resorts, operators and officials are all handled the same way.
What happens after you report
| Step | What we do |
|---|---|
| 1. Acknowledge | Confirm we have your report |
| 2. Check | Compare the page with the official or dated source |
| 3. Decide | Correct, clarify, or keep the statement with its source |
| 4. Correct | Update the page and its "Last reviewed" date |
| 5. Record | Add significant changes to the corrections log |
| 6. Reply | Tell you what we changed, or why the statement stands |
What counts as a correction
A correction fixes a fact that was wrong or has gone out of date: a tax rate, a visa rule, a transfer limit, a price basis or a flight time. These are made promptly and noted.
Small fixes, such as a typo or a broken link, are made without a log entry. Routine updates, such as refreshing a price when an offer expires, are reflected in the page's "Last reviewed" and price dates, and logged when the change matters to a planner.
How corrections are shown
The page is updated in place, with a new "Last reviewed" date. Where a correction changes a figure or rule a reader may have relied on, it is recorded in the corrections log with the date, the old statement, the new statement and the source.
We keep the log public so returning readers can see what has changed since they last planned.
Disputes about a quotation, booking or payment
Bookings and payments are made directly with the licensed travel company named on your quotation. That company is responsible for the travel services and handles changes, cancellations and refunds under its booking terms.
Take a booking dispute to that company first, in writing, and keep copies. If it came after a MaldivesQuest brief, tell us as well, so we can help you understand the quotation and take the concern into account in future hand-overs.
If a licensed company does not resolve your complaint, MOTAC can be contacted through motac.gov.my. Check the company's licence first using our guide on verifying the licence of the company issuing your booking.
Examples of how a report is resolved
Here is how three typical reports would be handled.
- An outdated tax rate. A reader notices a page showing an old Green Tax figure. We check the MIRA circular, correct the page, update its review date and add an entry to the corrections log.
- A resort detail. A resort tells us a villa type has been renamed, with a link to its official site. We update the profile and note the source with the date checked.
- A disputed opinion. An operator asks us to remove a sentence saying its transfer is long. If the transfer time is sourced and still accurate, the sentence stays, and we reply explaining the source.
How quickly we act
Corrections that affect money, entry rules or safety are handled first. They are the facts most likely to change a reader's plans, such as a tax rate, a passport rule or a seaplane cut-off.
Other corrections follow in order of how many readers they affect. Each reporter receives a reply once the check is complete.
