A MaldivesQuest price is research: an estimate with its date and basis shown. A bookable quotation is a firm offer from a licensed travel company. You can plan with the first, but you can only book and pay against the second.
This page sets out the difference and how to move from one to the other. It is part of the trust and transaction clarity hub; how our estimates are calculated is in the price-range methodology.

What our research is good for
Research tells you which tier your trip falls into and where the money goes. A reader can see, for example, that a 4-night local-island trip from KLIA usually lands between RM3,000 and RM6,500 per person, twin sharing, before choosing anything.
It also helps you read quotations. When you know Green Tax is USD 6 or USD 12 per guest per night and Tourism GST is 17%, a missing tax line stands out straight away.
Why research cannot be booked
Research figures are not tied to a room on a date. Resorts change rates by season and occupancy, airlines by load, and the ringgit moves against the dollar.
A published package also has its own basis. HolidayGoGoGo's Arena Beach Maafushi package, for example, was RM2,319 per adult twin share for 3 nights, flights excluded, valid to 31 October 2026 (checked 11 October 2026). That is useful evidence, but it is that company's offer, not ours.
How a brief becomes a quotation
- You send a trip brief through the enquiry form.
- We reply with options and an itemised view of likely costs, which is research.
- If you want a firm price, you tick the separate consent box.
- The licensed travel company prepares a quotation, confirms availability and states its validity and terms.
- You check its licence and, if you choose, book and pay that company directly.
The full hand-over, with who is responsible at each step, is in who arranges and books a trip requested through MaldivesQuest.
Checklist: is this a bookable quotation?
Use this on any Maldives quote, from any company.
- Names the issuing company and its MOTAC licence number.
- Shows a firm price in ringgit for your party, with the basis stated.
- States your dates, nights, room type and meal plan.
- Says whether flights, transfers, taxes and Green Tax are included.
- Gives a validity date and payment schedule.
- Sets out cancellation and change terms.
- Asks you to pay an account in the company's own name.
If any item is missing, ask before paying. Then check the licence using our guide to verifying the licence of the company issuing your booking.
When research and quotation differ
Some difference is normal. A quotation may be higher in school holidays or festive dates, or lower when a resort runs an offer.
Ask the company to itemise any large gap. Common causes are a different meal plan, a seaplane instead of a speedboat, extra nights, or taxes shown separately rather than included. If a gap traces to an outdated tax rate, our corrections log shows the current figures.
Who should read this first
First-timers comparing several agency offers gain the most, as do group organisers who must explain a budget to others. If you already hold a quotation, skip to the checklist above and the cost breakdown in how much a Maldives trip costs from Malaysia.
How research keeps its label
Every price on our pages carries its date and basis, and every reply to a brief says the figures are estimates. That label stays with the number when you screenshot it or share it in a family group chat.
