What does a holiday on Thulusdhoo cost?

Four nights on Thulusdhoo for a couple costs roughly RM 1,500 to RM 4,500 on the ground, before meals, trips and flights. The room choice moves the number most, since the transfer is short and fairly cheap.

What goes into a Thulusdhoo budget?

Six items make up the ground cost. Taxes follow fixed rules; transfers and rooms are reported prices.

aMaldives quotes shared boats at USD 25 to 50, so treat USD 30 as the usual fare rather than a guarantee.

Worked example: two adults, 4 nights

The arithmetic uses RM 4.09 per USD and is rounded.

• Room at USD 60: 60 × 4 = 240, plus 10% service = 264, plus 17% GST = USD 309.
• Room at USD 180: 180 × 4 = 720, plus 10% = 792, plus 17% = USD 927.
• Green Tax: 6 × 2 people × 4 nights = USD 48.
• Speedboat: 30 × 2 people × 2 ways = USD 120.
• Ferry: 3 × 2 × 2 = USD 12, plus about USD 4 for the airport-to-Male ferry both ways = USD 16.

Adding flights, meals and trips

Flights from KUL started at about RM 1,155 return per person in a Traveloka search on 11 October 2026. Treat that as a floor.

For food and trips we use our planning allowances, not Thulusdhoo menus: about RM 420 to 620 per person for meals over 4 nights, and RM 350 to 720 per person for excursions. One guide reports a USD 25 evening buffet at an island restaurant, which fits that range.

Extra costs for surfers

Cokes is reached by paddling from the island, so it costs nothing to reach. Chickens needs a boat, reported at about USD 10 per person return.

What moves the number

• Season: most listings charge more from December to April, and some surf guesthouses also from June to August.
• Room taxes: a USD 60 base rate becomes about USD 77 a night after service and GST.
• Friday travel: no public ferry, so you pay for the speedboat.
• Late arrival: an evening Batik Air landing can add a Hulhumale night.
• Trip count: each extra boat trip adds a meaningful amount for two people.

Ways to spend less

The public ferry is the clearest saving, but only on non-Fridays and only if your arrival fits the afternoon sailing. It cuts the transfer for a couple from about USD 120 to under USD 20.

Rooms are the bigger lever. Ask each guesthouse for a total with taxes, and compare like with like; a rate that already includes tax and breakfast can beat a cheaper headline price.

Who this budget suits

The ferry scenario suits flexible adults with light bags. Surfers, families and older travellers usually take the speedboat, which adds about USD 104 for a couple over the ferry.

If your budget is tight and you do not surf, Maafushi's USD 25 speedboat and bigger package market may work out slightly cheaper. If you surf, Thulusdhoo usually gives better value for each day in the water.
