How much an all-inclusive Maldives resort holiday really costs

All-inclusive sounds simple, but whether it saves money depends on what the two of you actually eat and drink each day.

Last reviewed 12 October 2026Prices researched 12 October 20264 min

Quick answer

At many Maldives resorts, all-inclusive adds about USD 220 to 380 per couple per night before the 28.7% service and tax uplift, roughly RM1,150 to RM2,000 per couple per day. It pays off for couples who drink several alcoholic drinks a day. Non-drinkers and light eaters often get similar value from full board at a lower price. Premium drinks, spa, diving and special dinners usually stay extra.

An all-inclusive Maldives holiday usually costs about USD 220 to 380 more per couple per night than breakfast only, before tax. Whether that is good value depends on how much you would otherwise spend on meals and drinks at resort prices.

How much does all-inclusive add per day?

Holiday.com.mv lists all-inclusive at about USD 220 to 380 per couple per night and premium all-inclusive at USD 320 to 480 (checked 12 Oct 2026). Full board is about USD 120 to 220, and half board USD 90 to 180.

Those figures are before the service charge and TGST. At 1.287 times, a USD 300 all-inclusive supplement becomes about USD 386, or roughly RM1,580 per couple per day at RM4.09 per USD.

Over 4 nights, that is about RM6,300 per couple on top of the room.

Worked test: does all-inclusive pay off for you?

Compare the supplement with what you would actually order. The table uses typical resort spending for one couple on one day, in USD before tax, then converts the after-tax total to ringgit.

Daily spending, per coupleCouple who drinksCouple who does not drinkFull board, no alcohol

After 28.7% uplift, RM1,8951,5271,053
All-inclusive at USD 300, RM1,5791,5791,579

The couple who drinks saves about RM316 a day with all-inclusive. The non-drinking couple roughly breaks even, and full board with soft drinks saves them about RM526 a day.

What does a full 4-night all-inclusive trip cost?

On our mid-range example, all-inclusive lifts a 4-night trip from about RM8,970 to RM11,330 per person. That assumes a USD 450 beach villa, a USD 300 all-inclusive supplement per couple, and a shared speedboat.

The working for the room and meals is (450 + 300) × 1.287 × 4 nights ÷ 2 × 4.09, which comes to about RM7,896 per person. Add flights at RM1,800, Green Tax at RM196, the transfer at RM736, excursions at RM400 and a RM300 buffer.

The breakfast-only version of the same trip carried an RM800 food allowance instead. So all-inclusive costs about RM2,360 more per person over 4 nights, and the question is whether you would spend that much on lunches, dinners and drinks anyway.

What does all-inclusive usually leave out?

Even on all-inclusive, several items are often charged. Read the plan's terms before you count on them.

  • Premium spirits and wines, which Holiday.com.mv puts at about USD 25 to 75 per drink.
  • Specialty restaurants and private dinners, often USD 80 to 180 per person.
  • Spa treatments, from about USD 180.
  • Diving, dive courses and some motorised water sports.
  • Seaplane or speedboat transfers.
  • Room service fees and minibar items in some plans.

How do published Malaysian packages price it?

Several Malaysian packages bundle the meal plan with the room, which makes comparison easier. HolidayGoGoGo's Adaaran Club Rannalhi water bungalow 4D3N lists RM4,989 to RM5,489 per adult twin share with all-inclusive meals and drinks, speedboat, Green Tax and taxes (checked 11 Oct 2026).

AF Travel's Le Meridien Thilamaafushi 4D3N lists RM7,936 to RM8,956 per adult with full board and all-inclusive non-alcoholic drinks (checked 11 Oct 2026). That style suits Muslim travellers who want no bills for soft drinks.

Neither includes flights, so add a KLIA return from about RM1,155 per person.

Who should choose all-inclusive?

All-inclusive suits couples who drink alcohol every day, honeymooners who want no checkout bill, and families with teenagers who order drinks and snacks often. It also suits remote seaplane resorts, where there is nowhere else to eat.

Full board often suits Muslim travellers, light eaters and families with young children better. Half board suits those who skip lunch or spend days on excursions.

Questions travellers ask

Is all-inclusive worth it for Muslim travellers?
Often not, because alcohol is a large part of what all-inclusive pays for. Full board with soft drinks bought separately usually costs less. Some resorts offer a non-alcoholic all-inclusive option, and one Malaysian package checked in October 2026 included all-inclusive non-alcoholic beverages with full board. Ask for that version specifically.
Does all-inclusive include the seaplane or speedboat?
Usually not. All-inclusive refers to the meal and drink plan, and transfers are priced separately. Some packages bundle both, so read the inclusions line by line before comparing a package with a resort's own rate.
Can one person on all-inclusive and one on full board share a villa?
Many resorts ask everyone in the same villa to take the same meal plan, which stops drinks being shared across plans. Ask the resort directly if you want a mixed arrangement, and get the answer in writing.
Are children charged for all-inclusive?
Usually yes, at a reduced rate. Holiday.com.mv describes children's meal plans as roughly 50% to 75% of the adult price. Under-twos are often free. Ask for the exact age bands, since some resorts treat children over 12 as adults.
