What does a holiday on Dhigurah cost?

What do 3 nights on Dhigurah cost for two?

Room, taxes, Green Tax and return speedboats come to about USD 468 to USD 991 for a couple, or RM 1,914 to RM 4,053. That excludes flights, meals beyond breakfast and excursions.

The room band is a market bracket for local-island doubles (holiday.com.mv, checked 11 Oct 2026), not a Dhigurah rate card. Speedboat fares are reported by 2025 to 2026 traveller and booking listings; confirm the current fare with your guesthouse.

How the taxes add up

Service charge of 10% is added to the room, then 17% Tourism GST is charged on the total: 1.10 x 1.17 = 1.287. Green Tax of USD 6 per guest per night is added separately, with under-2s exempt.

Why the transfer matters more here

The return speedboat for two costs about USD 200 to 260, compared with USD 100 for Maafushi. Spread over more nights, that gap shrinks per day.

Flights from Malaysia

The cheapest KUL to Male return on Traveloka on 11 Oct 2026 was RM 1,155 per person in economy, possibly without checked bags. Morning arrivals suit the late-morning Dhigurah boat.

Adding that fare to the mid column gives about RM 1,511 + RM 1,155 = RM 2,666 per person before meals and excursions.

Meals, excursions and cash

Breakfast is usually included, and many guesthouses sell half board or full board. Ask for that price per person per night, since cafes on the island are few.

Whale shark trips are the big extra. We found no dated operator price list; a 2026 magazine article cited about USD 80 per person, which is a rough planning figure only.

Bring cash for extras. A 2025 guide reported one ATM and minimarkets that usually do not take cards.

A 5-night example per person

Five nights is the length we suggest for Dhigurah, so here is the mid-room case worked out for one person sharing with a partner.

1. Room: USD 120 x 5 nights x 1.287 = USD 772 per room, or USD 386 per person.
2. Green Tax: USD 6 x 5 nights = USD 30 per person.
3. Speedboat: USD 60 x 2 ways = USD 120 per person.
4. Subtotal: USD 386 + 30 + 120 = USD 536, or about RM 2,192 at RM 4.09.
5. Add the cheapest flight seen, RM 1,155, for about RM 3,347 per person before meals and excursions.

Two whale shark trips at the rough USD 80 planning figure would add about USD 160, or RM 654, per person. Confirm actual prices before you budget on them.

What moves the number most

• Nights: more nights lower the transfer cost per day.
• Transfer type: the Maamigili flight adds roughly USD 420 to 480 for two, return.
• Excursions: whale shark, manta and dive trips each add a meaningful sum.
• Season: peak whale shark months, August to November, can be busier.
