What does a holiday on Thoddoo cost?

Thoddoo costs about the same as other local islands to sleep on, and a little more than Maafushi to reach. This page builds the budget line by line so you can check every number.

What do 4 nights on Thoddoo cost for two?

Room, taxes, Green Tax and return speedboats come to about USD 497 to USD 1,155 for a couple, or RM 2,033 to RM 4,724. That excludes flights, meals beyond breakfast and excursions.

The room band is a market bracket for local-island doubles (holiday.com.mv, checked 11 Oct 2026), not a Thoddoo rate card. Speedboat fares are guesthouse-booked prices reported by aMaldives in April 2026.

How the taxes add up

The 10% service charge is added to the room, then 17% Tourism GST is charged on the total: 1.10 x 1.17 = 1.287. Green Tax of USD 6 per guest per night is added separately, with children under 2 exempt.

How the transfer choice changes the total

The same 4-night mid budget moves with the transfer you pick. Here is the return trip for two people.

The seaplane conversion uses about MVR 15.4 per USD as a planning rate; check the fare in ringgit when you pay. Booking-site fares are from listings seen in October 2026.

Meals, trips and daily spending

Breakfast is usually included. aMaldives (April 2026) gives these sample prices, which we treat as planning ranges, not quotes:

• Dinner at a local cafe: about USD 10 to 15 per person.
• Guided snorkelling trip: about USD 30 to 50 per person.
• Island hopping: about USD 50 to 80 per person.
• Fruit farm tour: about USD 10.
• Bicycles: often free at guesthouses.

A relaxed day with lunch, dinner and one short trip lands around USD 40 to 80 per person. A lazy beach day can be under USD 30.

A 4-night example per person, with flights

Here is the mid-room case for one person sharing a room.

1. Room: USD 618 per room / 2 = USD 309 per person.
2. Green Tax: USD 6 x 4 nights = USD 24.
3. Speedboat: USD 40 x 2 ways = USD 80.
4. Subtotal: USD 413, or about RM 1,689 at RM 4.09.
5. Add the cheapest KUL return seen on 11 Oct 2026, RM 1,155, for about RM 2,844.
6. Add meals and two trips at about USD 50 a day for 4 days: USD 200, or RM 818.

That puts a comfortable 4-night Thoddoo trip at roughly RM 3,660 per person. Fares change daily, so treat the flight line as a snapshot.

Ways to keep the cost down

Several small choices add up on a local-island trip. None of them means a worse holiday.

• Book the speedboat through your guesthouse rather than a booking site, and confirm the price in writing.
• Choose a guesthouse that lends bicycles and snorkel gear free, so you avoid daily rental.
• Take half board if the guesthouse price is fair; on an island with few cafes, it can be cheaper than eating out every night.
• Share boat trips with other guests; private trips cost more per person.
• Travel outside school holidays and the December to April peak when you can.

Carry enough US dollars in small notes for daily spending. ATM withdrawals and card fees add up, and some small cafes take cash only.

What moves the number most

• Room choice: the gap between USD 60 and USD 180 a night is the biggest swing.
• Transfer booking: guesthouse-booked boats were reported well below booking-site prices.
• School holidays and peak season (about December to April) push room rates up.
• Dive courses: an Open Water course was listed at about USD 400 to 600.
