What do 4 nights on Ukulhas cost for two?
Room, taxes, Green Tax and return speedboats come to about USD 557 to USD 1,195 for a couple, or RM 2,278 to RM 4,888. That excludes flights, meals beyond breakfast and excursions.
| Line (2 adults, 4 nights) | Budget | Mid | Upper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Room per night before tax | USD 60 | USD 120 | USD 180 |
| 4 nights | USD 240 | USD 480 | USD 720 |
| Plus 10% service and 17% TGST (x 1.287) | USD 309 | USD 618 | USD 927 |
| Green Tax: USD 6 x 2 people x 4 nights | USD 48 | USD 48 | USD 48 |
| Speedboat: 2 people x 2 ways | USD 200 (at USD 50) | USD 220 (at USD 55) | USD 220 (at USD 55) |
| Total in USD | USD 557 | USD 886 | USD 1,195 |
| Total at RM 4.09 | RM 2,278 | RM 3,624 | RM 4,888 |
| Per person | About RM 1,139 | About RM 1,812 | About RM 2,444 |
The room band is a market bracket for local-island doubles (holiday.com.mv, checked 11 Oct 2026), not an Ukulhas rate card. Speedboat fares are 12Go listings for Coral Speed (about USD 50) and Atoll Transfer (about USD 55), checked in October 2026.
How the taxes add up
The 10% service charge is added to the room, then 17% Tourism GST on the total: 1.10 x 1.17 = 1.287. Green Tax of USD 6 per guest per night is added separately, and children under 2 are exempt.
A 2026 Kilroy package for Ukulhas lists exactly these three charges as local taxes. The Green Tax explainer explains how guesthouses collect it.
Trips and daily spending
aMaldives (April 2026) gives sample prices for Ukulhas, which we use as planning ranges rather than quotes.
| Item | Sample price |
|---|---|
| Main dish at a local restaurant | About USD 10 to 15 |
| Bottled water | About USD 0.50 to 1.50 |
| Manta snorkel trip | About USD 60 to 80 pp |
| Sandbank picnic with lunch | About USD 30 to 50 pp |
| Try dive (Discover Scuba) | About USD 80 to 100 |
| Two-tank dive trip | About USD 130 to 150 |
| Fishing trip | About USD 50 to 150+ |
A beach day with lunch and dinner is about USD 30 per person. A day with a manta trip lands closer to USD 100.
A 4-night example per person, with flights
Here is the mid-room case for one person sharing a room.
- Room: USD 618 per room / 2 = USD 309 per person.
- Green Tax: USD 6 x 4 nights = USD 24.
- Speedboat: USD 55 x 2 ways = USD 110.
- Subtotal: USD 443, or about RM 1,812 at RM 4.09.
- Add the cheapest KUL return seen on 11 Oct 2026, RM 1,155, for about RM 2,967.
- Add meals plus one manta trip and one sandbank trip, about USD 200 over 4 days, or RM 818.
That brings a comfortable 4-night Ukulhas trip to roughly RM 3,785 per person. Fares change daily, so treat the flight line as a snapshot.
How Ukulhas compares on transfer cost
| Island | Shared speedboat, pp one way | Return for two |
|---|---|---|
| Maafushi | USD 25 | USD 100 |
| Ukulhas | USD 50 to 55 | USD 200 to 220 |
The Maafushi fare is the operator price in our evidence file. The extra USD 100 to 120 for two buys a quieter island with a longer beach, which many couples feel is worth it. See Maafushi versus Ukulhas for the full comparison.
What changes for a family of four
A family of two adults and two children aged 6 and 9 pays Green Tax and boat fares for all four. On the mid column, the extra costs look like this:
- Green Tax for two children: USD 6 x 2 x 4 nights = USD 48.
- Speedboats for two children: USD 55 x 2 x 2 ways = USD 220, unless the operator offers a child fare.
- A second room or extra bed: ask the guesthouse, since triple rooms vary.
Children under 2 are exempt from Green Tax. Ask each operator about child fares on boats and trips before you budget.
Ways to keep the cost down
- Choose a guesthouse that includes breakfast and lends snorkel gear.
- Book the speedboat through your guesthouse and confirm the fare in writing.
- Share boat trips with other guests rather than booking private ones.
- Avoid Malaysian school holidays and the December to April peak when you can.
- Use the USD ATM rather than paying card fees on every small bill.
Run your own numbers in the trip cost calculator.
Who this budget suits
This budget suits couples, friends and small families who want an easy beach island and have at least 4 nights. If your budget is tight and the trip is 3 nights, Maafushi often gives more for each ringgit. The Ukulhas island guide explains the fit.
